Community Engagement: Police Accountability in Prince Rupert
The BC First Nations Justice Council (BCFNJC) invites the Prince Rupert community to join our Police Accountability Unit (PAU) for two days of dialogue, education, and direct support.
Since our pilot launch in August 2024, the PAU has worked to provide legal representation to Indigenous people affected by police violence, misconduct, or negligence. As we move toward a full provincial launch in 2026, your voice is essential in ensuring our oversight mechanisms are culturally safe and effective.

What to Expect:
- Tuesday, June 2 (AM): A “Know Your Rights” seminar designed to empower community members with legal knowledge regarding police interactions.
- Wednesday, June 3 (PM): A hosted lunch and roundtable discussion to share experiences and provide feedback on the PAU’s strategic direction.
- Direct Access: Members of our PAU and policy teams will be available for private, one-on-one appointments to discuss specific files or systemic concerns.
