We are an Indigenous non-profit society serving families in the Burnaby, New Westminster, and the Tri-Cities area (Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam & Port Moody). We work to empower and strengthen Indigenous families by providing support and resources through the programs we offer.
SOTCS - Spirit of the Children Housing First (Indigenous Youth age 16-24)
The Housing First approach is premised on the assumption that the first and primary need of a homeless individual is to obtain stable, permanent housing. The approach involves moving individuals who are chronically or episodically homeless from the streets or homeless shelters directly into permanent housing.
SOTCS - Spirit of the Children Homelessness Prevention Program (Indigenous Youth and Adults)
We provide services to Indigenous families and individuals who are at risk of losing housing.
SOTCS - Women's Support Circle
This is a support circle specifically for women who are facing challenges in their daily lives. The circle provides a safe place for women to express their challenges they are facing in a supportive environment.
SOTCS - Men's Support Circle
This is a support circle for men who are facing challenges in their daily lives. The circle provides a safe place for men to express their challenges they are facing in a supportive environment.
SOTCS - Bringing Our Families Together
The Bringing Our Families Together Program (BOFT) provides supportive supervision for parents and children in care. The unique aspect of the program, in addition to supervision, is the supportive visitation workers providing guidance, parenting skills, and cultural teachings to the parents during the visit when challenging situations and/or discussion arise (that may be a barrier for the parents).
SOTCS - Family Strengthening Workers
Provides a supportive environment to Indigenous families experiencing life challenges. They assist families in creating, or increasing, natural and extended family supports in the community and to assist families in developing specific strategies in dealing with family challenges.
