The Tla’amin Justice Program incorporates the Tla’amin Community Justice Circle into diversion measures, probation supervision and alternative measures for members of the Tla’amin Nation. The program works with various justice stakeholders to increase the awareness of justice as an integral part of overall community healing.
TJP - Adult Program
The Tla’amin Justice Program’s services for adults include but are not limited to bail and probation monitoring; pre- and post-charge diversion and alternative measures programming; restorative justice circles; coordination of community work service; and facilitation of culturally relevant healing plans.
TJP - Youth Program
The Tla’amin Justice Program’s services for youth are primarily prevention and intervention-based in nature. Our staff facilitate family group conferences, restorative justice circles, and peacemaking circles for youth and families. The Tla’amin Justice Program also acts as a liaison for the Tla’amin Nation to the Ministry of Children and Family Development Youth Probation.
TJP - Criminal Courts Support
We work alongside the Native Courtworkers and Counselling Society of BC to help clients navigate the criminal and family courts, including assistance with criminal and family court applications, legal aid applications, and referrals to appropriate agencies. We help individuals understand the process of the criminal justice system and court orders. We can help clients understand their Gladue rights. We can attend first appearances with clients, as well as criminal and family court appearances.
