Gladue Services in BC 2025

Join the BC First Nations Justice Council (BCFNJC) for a comprehensive virtual webinar designed to introduce and deepen your understanding of the essential Gladue Services offered by the BCFNJC. This session will cater specifically to those who request Gladue Services on behalf of their clients (defence counsel) though all who interact with Gladue services are welcome.

This 3-hour session will be chaired by Amandeep K. Sehmbi, Director of Gladue Services Department, and will open with a Welcome and from Dr. Judith Sayers, OC (Cloy-e-iis), Council Director.

The presentation will cover critical topics, including:

  1. What Gladue is and its significance in the justice system.
  2. Gladue Services timelines and procedures.
  3. The key distinctions between Gladue Letters and Gladue Reports.
  4. Information about who can request a Gladue Product.
  5. The role of Kinship Mentors and our efforts in hiring from community.
  6. An introduction to Restorative Justice and Healing Plans.

A dedicated Question & Answer Period is scheduled to allow participants to engage directly with the experts.
