The BC First Nations Justice Councils Indigenous Justice Centres (IJCs) provide Indigenous clients with optimum legal representation and access to wraparound services that extend beyond their legal needs. As those accessing our services often feel overwhelmed and disconnected from community, IJCs embrace them with care, honour their cultural identity and protect them from falling through the cracks.
Holistic Support through Outreach Teams:
IJCs understand that individuals accessing our services often experience a range of interconnected challenges. Our dedicated Outreach Teams provide comprehensive support, connecting individuals with vital resources and services tailored to their specific needs. We recognize that legal matters rarely exist in isolation, and addressing these underlying issues is crucial for positive outcomes and preventing individuals from “falling through the cracks.” Our Outreach Teams can connect you with vital resources and support in areas such as:
- Cultural Support: We facilitate access to Elders, Knowledge Keepers, traditional healing practices, and other cultural resources to support healing and connection to community. We strive to ensure that cultural considerations are integrated into all aspects of our services.
- Community Connection: We assist individuals in reconnecting with their communities and support networks, fostering a sense of belonging and reducing feelings of isolation.
- Wraparound Services: We work with individuals to identify and access a wide range of services beyond legal representation that we offer, we can connect them with other services including:
- Housing support
- Employment assistance
- Health care (physical and mental health, including addiction support and counselling)
- Financial assistance
- Family support programs
- And other services based on individual needs
