General Information

Yeqox Nilin Justice Society (YNJS) supports the Tsilhqot’in and Southern Carrier Nations in the development of community-based approaches to justice issues affecting youth, adults, families and communities.

Programs and Services

YNJS - Adult Program

Services include but are not limited to adult bail, probation and parole monitoring; adult diversion and alternative measures programming; restorative justice, healing & peacemaking circles; coordination of community work service; and facilitation of culturally relevant healing plans. Yeqox Nilin Justice Society does not currently offer programming for sex offenders.

YNJS - Youth Program

Yeqox Nilin Justice Society assists with the healing plans and monitoring of young offenders in partnership with the Youth Probation office of the Ministry of Children and Family Development. Additional services for youth include: extrajudicial sanctions and extrajudicial measures; restorative justice, peacemaking & healing circles; and supervision of community work service.

YNJS - Victim/Offender Mediation Circles

Victim/Offender Mediation Circles bring the victim, offender and in some cases other community members together in a neutral environment with a trained mediator to discuss the offending behaviour.

YNJS - Williams Lake Situation Table

Situation Tables (also known as “hubs”) help front-line staff from the public safety, health, and social service sectors identify vulnerable people and collaboratively and rapidly connect them to services before they experience a negative or traumatic event (e.g. victimization, overdose, eviction, etc.).

YNJS - Success Summer Youth Camps

Funded by MCFD, our camps are mainly held each July and August, offering cultural lessons, life-skills, local guest speakers and fun physical activities.

Did you know we also operate the Virtual Indigenous Justice Centre?

The goal of the VIJC is to provide no-cost legal services to Indigenous clients living in under-served areas of the province where access to legal advice or representation is difficult or non-existent.
