OKANAGAN SYILX HOMELANDS, WESTBANK BC—The BC First Nations Justice Council warmly welcomes Dr. Gwendolyn Point to the Elders and Knowledge Keepers Council.
Dr. Point joins five other members of the council in supporting the culturally appropriate implementation of the BC First Nations Justice Strategy.
A member of Skowkale First Nation, Dr. Point has served in numerous mentorship, education and cultural advisor roles, from Knowledge Keeper for the BC Assembly of First Nation Chiefs to Chancellor for the University of the Fraser Valley to vice-president of the First Nation Education Steering Committee.

The EKKC was established in spring 2024 to provide guidance to the people and the operations of the BC First Nations Justice Council, based on Indigenous laws and protocols. BCFNJC is working to expand the EKKC to ensure regional representation for the 204 First Nations across BC.

BCFNJC represents the 204 First Nations in B.C. on justice-related issues and has been entrusted with the mandate to transform the justice system and create better outcomes for Indigenous people. Through the implementation of the BC First Nations Justice Strategy, BCFNJC is working to reform the current justice system and to support the rebuilding of Indigenous legal structures.
