Services at the Hazelton Indigenous Justice Centre
The Indigenous Justice Centre (IJC) in Hazelton offers supports to Indigenous people – First Nations, Métis and Inuit – dealing with criminal and child protection matters who otherwise cannot access help through legal aid.
The Hazelton IJC is a diverse team providing services to the surrounding communities, with lawyers and outreach teams working with Nations and local service providers to connect people with services to support them, their families and their communities while dealing with legal issues. The IJC team maintains accurate, up-to-date information on local programs, eligibility criteria, waitlists and other programming.
Come in and meet with our staff, and they will work to help you decide what services are appropriate for you.
The Hazelton IJC offers:
- A meeting with our staff lawyer
- Advocacy and support for dealing with the Ministry of Children & Family Development
- A liaison to help you get support from your First Nation
- Supports accessing housing, treatment, social services
- Access to culturally relevant supports
