The BC First Nations Justice Council operates nine physical Indigenous Justice Centres in Chilliwack, Kelowna, Merritt, Nanaimo, Prince George, Prince Rupert, Surrey, Vancouver and Victoria as well as a Virtual Indigenous Justice Centre. These centres can help Indigenous people and families with family law and criminal matters.
In court, the judge has a duty to consider the unique circumstances and experiences of Indigenous people. These are called Gladue rights. Learn more here.
